Nintendo Switch Sports Online Test Now Available For Registration

You can now register for the Nintendo Switch Sports online play test, but there is a small catch.

Nintendo announced how players can sign up to the online play test for Nintendo Switch Sports yesterday, February 16, on its official Twitter. Clicking on the link brings you to the game’s store page, where you can pre-order it in the eShop. Scrolling down to the bottom of the page will allow you to click through to receive your code.

Nintendo has gone about it in a typically awkward Nintendo way. As what you have to do is spend zero platinum coins (as in it’s free) to get your code. Then, you just need to redeem your code in the usual way you would for any game. However, you do need to be a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber to take part.

However, there is a catch. Players will be unable to share anything about the game on social media, in any capacity. “By registering to participate in the Online Play Test, you agree not to share information about the Online Play Test publicly, including the sharing of screenshots or video footage from the game on social media,” Nintendo writes on the page.

The ability to screenshot or record video will likely be prohibited in the game itself. As this is a function in certain games. But how Nintendo plans to enforce simply tweeting about the game is unclear. Why it decided to do this only Nintendo knows.
