No Man’s Sky creator Sean Murray has revealed that Hello Games is still not done with creating new content for No Man’s Sky.
In an exclusive interview with IGN, Murray revealed that Hello Games still has lots of ideas for new updates to bring to No Man’s Sky.
“As many updates as we’ve done since launch and as many bucket list items we’ve checked off, our list of things we’re excited about never seems to get any shorter,” Murray revealed to IGN. “The team are always coming up with new things that they want to do with the game: new content and features and areas for improvement.
“I’m amazed that the energy levels are as high now as they’ve ever been,” he continued. “We tend not to talk about what’s on that list publicly but suffice to say we’re not done yet by a long shot.“
A BOTCHED LAUNCH
No Man’s Sky was originally released back in 2016 after years of hype. The reception at launch was middling to say the least, with many players disappointed at how Hello Games had overpromised a lot of features that ended up being quite shallow in the end.
Instead of abandoning the game and moving onto a new project, Hello Games stuck to improving No Man’s Sky. Five years and 20 free updates later, here we are. In fact, just this week the studio released the Sentinel Update, bringing many improvements to the combat and enemies.
It’s honestly amazing that all of this content has been free too. Hello Games seems to have repaired a lot of the goodwill that was damaged during No Man’s Sky’s original botched launch.
“I like to think that No Man’s Sky is such a large game that we have to paint in broad brush strokes,” Murray said, “and then each update comes along and fills in some finer detail but also paints more new broad strokes.
“That’s certainly the case here. If you look at our patch notes [for the Sentinel Update], you’ll see an absolute ton of refinements, but also huge new features too.“
