No Man’s Sky has received a massive visual overhaul thanks to its newest update. The result? The game is almost unrecognisable!

Since its problematic launch in 2016, No Man’s Sky has been slowly evolving into the game it is today. In 2021 alone, No Man’s Sky has received two major updates, Companions and Expeditions, which have expanded the game beyond its 2020 origins update.
However, the game’s newest update, Prisms, is about to completely transform No Man’s Sky in terms of visuals, bringing the game to new heights.
The 3.5 update adds various graphical features to No Man’s Sky, such as screen-space reflections, new textures and lighting. The atmosphere of the game will also be enhanced, thanks to Volumetric lighting and refractions in the game’s space stations and cockpits.
While both console and PC players will benefit from the update, the latter will also be able to yield more detail and fidelity using ultra settings. The game will also use Nvidia’s DLSS features, which should make the experience smoother across the board. The visual enhancements will also be available in VR mode. Talk about immersive!

In addition to the update’s various graphical enhancements, the game will also receive new mechanical features. The Prisms update will make multiple changes to the game’s hazardous weather events, including valuable objects that can be discovered during said events. The Space Anomaly will also receive a new terminal that will produce crafting recipes in exchange for nanites. Sounds like a fair trade.
Beyond the update’s aforementioned changes, the space station hanger has also received a makeover, along with a new ominous Space Station Core. The game is also set to feature more tamable creatures, which includes giant beetles, butterflies, and flying worms.

In comparison to its original 2016 release, No Man’s Sky seems like an entirely different game. Better still, Hello Games has stated that future updates will expand the game even further. Hopefully, No Man’s Sky has evolved enough to leave its troubled past behind while becoming the game it was always meant to be.
