LEGO lovers rejoice as the Bionicle game of your dreams is coming, courtesy of the fan-made project, Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui. The project, which has been in the works for six years now, got its first trailer earlier this summer and it looks absolutely phenomenal.
Set during the first year of Bionicle, the game “follows the story of the Toa on their quest to collect the 6 great masks of power to rid the island of Mata Nui of the evil influence called Makuta.”

This isn’t just any fan-made project though, as the game promises to reach the lofty heights of your massive AAA titles. With everything from NPCs to multiplayer being promised, Quest for Mata Nui is going to be a must-play for millions. Best of all, it’s going to be completely free.
At the time of writing, the jaw-droppingly awesome trailer has hit nearly 300,000 views on YouTube, proving once and for all there’s a massive desire for a new Bionicle game.

Hopefully we won’t see LEGO take any legal action against the project, because honestly, this could be the game we all need right now. I’m not the only one who feels this way, as the trailer has received overwhelmingly positive reception so far.
“Literally incredible,” tweeted one eager gamer. “Like, my brain can’t stop thinking about it, and I can’t stop watching it. You have my full attention until release day.”
Along with the trailer, the developers also released 12 minutes of gameplay. Although it looks a teeny bit rough around the edges, it perfectly encapsulates the nostalgia of Bionicle.

There’s no word on when Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui will be available to play for yourself, but you can keep an eye out for game updates via the developer’s Discord server here.
