Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac has reportedly been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid live action movie.

The news was revealed today by Deadline, where it’s noted that sources close to the publication have confirmed the news.
The movie is currently in development at Sony Pictures, and will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and written by Derek Connolly (Kong: Skull Island, Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World).

Currently no production date has been announced, but the flick has been trying to get off the ground for a while now.
Vogt-Roberts has now been working on the project for six whole years and has been pretty tight-lipped on the matter of the MGS movie, offering up only the smallest of updates here and there.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts took to Twitter with an update on the film late last year, confirming that things are still happening behinds the scenes. At the time, a new draft had just been turned in. He tweeted: “I’m sorry can’t update you on the MGS film more regularly… but:
“-We just turned in a new draft. It’s full Kojima-quirk and full Military surrealism. I won’t say more
“-I’m hoping to meet a specific actor very soon ? -Let’s make this movie.”

Sounds like the actor in question may have been Star Wars hero, Oscar Isaac! The star is perhaps best known for his role as Poe Dameron, an X-wing pilot, in the most-recent trilogy.
He definitely looks the part of Solid Snake, and we’re excited to see where he – and the rest of the cast and crew – will take the story of Metal Gear Solid!
