Overwatch 2 recently announced a collaboration between the hero shooter and One Punch Man. We now have a suspected release time for the event so you can get your hands on the anime-style cosmetic.
With this event featuring cosmetics and hopefully some in-game challenges, it is an exciting time for Overwatch 2 fans. The heroes receiving skins will be Doomfist who will get the Saitama cosmetic and Kiriko who will receive the Terrible Tornado skin. Finally, Soldier76 will receive a Mumen Rider skin which is free to all players.
March 7
March 7 will see the arrival of the event as well as an accompanying trailer. Although Blizzard are yet to release a solid time, it is safe to assume they will follow their standard releases. This will see the event dropping at 11:00 PST / 14:00 EST / 19:00 GMT.
The trailer is set to air at 11am PT and will hopefully include more upcoming content.
How to get the Overwatch 2 Legendary Skin
The legendary skins will be available in a bundle costing 2,100 Overwatch Coins. The bundle will feature the skin alongside the Terribly Impressive victory pose and Terrible Tornado name card. This can be found in the in-game store between March 7 to April 6.
A rare collaboration
This has been the first collaboration since Bastion met Lego back in 2019. Xbox reached out to Overwatch 2 art director, Dion Rogers to find out how this collaboration came about:
“It’s something we’ve been wanting to do for a while,” he says. “You know, Overwatch’s art style is kind of a marriage of West-meets-East aesthetics and values – there’s a bit of an anime look to Overwatch. So, being fans of anime, we were looking for a partner to collaborate with.
And we looked at various studios, and then when One-Punch Man came up, it was surprising how many people on the team knew the anime, they loved it, they watched it.”
With three new skins and potential in-game challenges, the One-Punch Man event is shaping up to be another exciting addition to Overwatch 2.
