It looks like Nintendo has another smash-hit on its hands with the recently-released Super Mario Maker 2.
Following on from its Wii U and Nintendo 3DS predecessor, Super Mario Maker 2 released on the Nintendo Switch late last month.
Interestingly, it seems that being on the Switch is enough to boost the game’s physical sales numbers way above that of the original game (although, let’s face it, who really owned a Wii U?)
The latest UK software charts for physical game sales shows that Super Mario Maker 2 has almost doubled the number of sales for its predecessor, taking the top physical sales spot for the week.
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled scooped second-place on the list, with F1 2019 taking third.
Excitingly for Nintendo, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still holding down the fort in the physical sales department, appearing at number five on the list.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also made an appearance at number ten.
Check out the top ten best-selling physical games in the UK (week ending 29 June 2019) below:

Despite being a new title, the community for the Super Mario Maker 2 is already in full swing, creating playable levels for the whole world to enjoy.
“I made a level that focuses on the Red POW Blocks in the 3D World style. You basically have to trigger them to break bricks so you can progress,” said one Twitter user.
There’s even been a level created to appease notorious (and amazing) Twitter account, @CanYouPetTheDog.
