When it comes to roguelite experiences, modern gamers are spoiled for choice. However, in King of Seas, players will get to explore the Seven Seas as a roguish pirate, which is rather fitting considering the game’s genre.

Admittedly, King of Seas sounds like a tribute to Sea of Thieves. However, when it comes to gameplay, King of Seas feels closer to a roguelite RPG than Rare’s swashbuckling adventure. Here’s the game’s back of the box synopsis from its Steam page:
“Cannon shots echo on the seven seas as on the horizon the sun rises on a new dawn of pirates. Drop your moorings, unfold the sails and launch yourself into the heart of the storm shaping your empire. The murder of your father will not be forgiven.

“King of Seas is an Action Role playing game set in a deadly procedurally generated pirate world. In a ferocious plot you will fight to regain what has been taken away and embark on an epic adventure in a fantastic world, filled with battles, lost islands and treasures. A universe full of amazing characters and breathtaking missions will keep you anchored as you strive to become the king of all pirates.“
King of Seas promises a procedurally-generated world paired with dynamic environments that react to your style of play.
You’ll also be able to upgrade your ship in true RPG style, with different talent branches and skills to choose from. The experience is also accompanied by a story that features various characters and quests that make up the game’s overall grand adventure.

King of Seas is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 25th May 2021. There’s also a playable demo available on the King of Sea’s Steam page, just in case you’d like to take your boat for a test drive!
