Triangle Strategy peaked gamers’ interests as soon as it was announced on Nintendo Direct last year. Continuing the trend of new 2D JRPG releases on Nintendo Switch, developers Artdink alongside Square Enix and Nintendo have produced a cool spin on the tactical role-playing genre. This also means Project Triangle Strategy Characters are full of personality and various interests.

Piquing the interest of retro and current generation gamers alike, one of the biggest gains from a title such as Triangle Strategy is the plot. Of course, we can’t have a decent plot without any interesting characters either. So here’s a guide detailing playable Project Triangle Strategy characters including background and statistics.

Anna Pascal

Hailing from the Kingdom of Glenbrook, Anna Pascal was an Orphan adopted into House Wolffort. Serving as a spy in her later years, Anna is one of the ‘Token of Conviction’ holders. Joining a players’ party during Chapter II: To Arms, Brave Warriors, she turns her skillset to diplomatic missions and tournaments.

As readers will have guessed from the above, Anna Pascals base class is a Spy with her highest base stats being Speed (28) and Evasion (9). Typical of a spy, Anna wields an Iron Dagger at Weapon Rank 1 followed by a Silver Dagger at Weapon Rank 2. 

Her starting Spy abilities include:

  • Act Twice (Passive, LV 0): Grants 2 actions during a single turn but can only be used once in battle.
  • Slumber Stab (Active, LV 0): Deal physical damage and has a chance of putting enemies to sleep for two turns.
  • Take Cover (Active, LV 0): Become invisible for two turns providing players don’t attack or stand in front of an enemy.
  • Surmount (Active, LV 9): Move to a neighbouring square with a height difference of under 15 units.

Benedict Pascal

A Stewart of House Wolffort since the Saltiron War, Benedict Pascal is a legend amongst the population of the Kingdom of Glenbrook. Not only is he known for his determination and intelligence, but he can also look after himself too.

Making his first appearance in Chapter 1: A Young Hawk Soars, Benedict’s base class is Tactician. This means he can temporarily raise team statistics and turns. With his highest base stat being Speed (25), he wields a Kane sword at Weapon Rank 1 followed by a Fox Cane at Weapon Rank 2.

His starting Tactician abilities include:

  • Raging Beast (Active, LV 0): Raises an ally’s strength and magic attack statistics for three turns.
  • Bulwark (Active, LV 3): Raises and ally’s magical and physical defence for three turns.
  • Bird of Prey (Active, LV 5): Raises an ally’s movement and jump for three turns.
  • Now…! (Active, LV 7): Move allies turn to after the current one.

Corentin Jennar

Players will meet Corentin Jennar should they choose to travel to Hyzante in Chapter III. Working as a researcher for the Hyzante Ministry, he doesn’t exactly agree with how they are doing things. This leads Corentin to join a player’s party so he can conduct his research freely.

As a Cryomancer. Corentin Jennar specialises in Ice Magic. Typical of any magic class, he also has a high magic attack and a low physical defence, which is something to consider when building out a synergy-rich team.

His starting Cryomancer abilities include:

  • Blessing of Ice (Passive, LV 3): Increases Ice resistance whilst decreasing fire resistance.
  • Icy Breath (Active, LV 3): Deals ranged ice damage and freeze the in-range ground.
  • Frosty Fetters (Active, LV 3): Deals ice damage, slows enemy for three turns and freezes the ground.
  • Wall of Ice (Active, LV 5): Creates a three square obstacle that degrades over time.

Erador Ballentine

Serving as the Armsmaster of House Wolffort and a holder of a Token of Conviction, Erador Wolffort is good friends with Benedict Pascal and a member of House Wolffort. 

Entering the narrative in Chapter II: To Arms, Brave Warriors, Erador Ballentine’s base class is Shieldbearer. This increases physical defence but lowers magical defence. Players will find Erador sporting a Kite Shield at Weapon Rank 1 and a Guardian Shield at Weapon Rank 2.

Here’s a rundown of what Eradors Shieldbearers’ early abilities are:

  • Provoke (Active, LV 0): Chance to infuriate enemies within range for two tuns.  
  • Sprint (Active, LV 0): Raises movement by one for three turns.
  • Steelback (Passive, LV 5): Cuts rear damage in half
  • Ram Foe (Active, LV 9): Deals physical damage whilst knocking foes back by five squares 

Ezana Qlinka

Players will encounter Ezana Qlinka performing miracles for inhabitants of the Nameless Village, which is kind of her deal. She excels in making sure the sick and starving are hydrated and conjure rainfall to help their crops. Players will need to have accumulated 2 Utility Virtue in order to add Ezana to their party, however.

Ezana’s base class is Shaman and uses canes for weapons. Naturally, she won’t be relying on this weapon too much thanks to her high magical attack that’s balanced out with low physical defence.

Here are some base Shaman abilities that Ezana Qlinka has access to:

  • Rite of Lightning (Active, LV 0): Lightning damage alongside chance of paralysis for two turns. Effects spread by water.
  • Blessing of Lightning (Passive, LV 0): Raises lightning resistance whilst lowering wind resistance.
  • Rite of Rain (Active, LV 0): Extinguishes fires and inundates terrain with water by summoning a rainstorm.

Frederica Aesfrost

Born from the concubine of an Archduke, Frederica Aesfrosts life has been subject to ridicule and disappointment. Eventually married off to strengthen foreign relations, players will meet Frederica in ‘Chapter I: A Young Hawk Soars’ during a kidnapping attempt. She’s the lucky sort that’s for sure.

With a base class of Pyromancer, players get a taste for fire magic early on with this Project Triangle Strategy character. As for most magic users, she sports a high magic attack stat and low physical defence stat. Frederica wields a Tome of Fire at Weapon Rank One and a Tome of Flames at Weapon Rank Two.

Here’s a rundown of her Pyromancer base abilities:

  • Blessing of Fire (Passive, LV 0): Increases fire resistance and lower ice resistance.
  • Scorch (Active, LV 0): Deals fire magic damage and set the ground on fire within range.
  • Flame Shield (Active, LV 4): Increase ally’s fire resistance for two turns and grant them the counter-attacking ability.
  • Blazing Chains (Active, LV 7): Deal fire damage, slow down movement for three runs and set fire to terrain.

Geela Breisse

Serving as the tutor to another playable Project Triangle Strategy character Frederica Aesfrost, she also follows the same entrance and narrative as her in ‘Chapter I: A Young Hawk Soars’ during a kidnapping attempt. 

Geela’s base class is Physician, which means she will be serving as a healer in a players team. With the standard high magic attacks and low physical defence stats, she wields a Rod at Weapon Rank One followed by an Ice Rod and Weapon Rank Two.

Here’s a rundown of Geela’s Physician base class:

  • Cure Wounds (Active, LV 0): Restore HP to an ally.
  • For Those in Need (Passive, LV 3): Give HP to teammates at a loss of 50% HP or less when using health-restoring commands.
  • Haste (Active, LV 6): Buff up an ally’s speed for three turns.
  • Circle of Healing (Active, LV 7): Restore HP to all team members in range.

Hughette Bucklar

Hughette Bucklar is the latest recruit of Glensbrook’s Kingsguard, specifically tasked with protecting Roland Glenbrook. Joining the fray in “Chapter II: To Arms, Brave Warriors”, she helps to win the Norzelia Tournament.

Hughette’s base class is Hawkbow, which allow her to use a Hawk mount to attain greater elevation and jumping than other units. Her weapons include a Shortbow at Weapon Rank One and a Great bow at Weapon Rank Two.

Here’s what to expect from Hughette’s Hawkbow class:

  • Hawk’s Bane (Passive, LV 0): Increases Bow damage.
  • Blinding Arrow (Active, LV 0): Deals physical damage and chance of blinding for three turns.
  • Fell Swoop (Active, LV 5): Physical damage to a single foe.

Shadowstitching Arrow (Active, LV 10): Physical Damage with a chance of immobilizing for two turns.

Julio Lightman

Julio Lightman is an optional Project Triangle Strategy character that served as an aide to King Regna’s Advisor. After uncovering the Kings’ Advisor was stealing funds from the crown’s recent mining venture, he joins a player’s party providing Serenoa has enough Liberty.

Julios base class is Advisor and uses swords throughout his weapon classes. Specialising in restoring party TP once joining House Wolffort at level 10. Here’s a rundown of his base abilities once he joins the team:

  • Moment of Truth (Active, LV 0): Grant 1 TP, raise Strength and Magic attack for three turns.
  • Not on my Watch (Active, LV 0): Deals physcial damage and reduce their TP by one.
  • K.O. TP+ (Passive, LV 0): Gain 1 TP when an enemy is defeated.
  • Finish Them! (Active, LV 0): Grant 2 TP to a party member.

Medina Alliam

Medina is an optional Project Triangle Strategy character choice that is aligned with Morality. Specifically, a player will need to have at least one Morality Virtue to join House Wolfort. She can be found at Central Hyzante as is described as a ‘Young Apothecary’.

Medina’s base class is Pharmaceutist with her weapon of choice being Daggers. Like most healers, her attack stats are terrible, but she excels in healing and speed.

Here’s Medina’s base Pharmaceutist abilities:

  • HP Physick (Passive, LV 0): Enhances health recovery items.
  • Double Items (Active, LV 0): Uses two items at once at the cost of 2 TP
  • TP Physick (Passive, LV 0): Enhances TP recovery items.
  • Long Toss (Passive, LV 0): Increases consumable item range on party members by one.

Roland Glenbrook

Roland Glenbrook is the younger son of King Regna and is introduced in ‘Chapter I: A Young Hawk Soars’ when he defends Frederica from a group of bandits.

His base class is a Spear Knight and rides a horse mount, giving him high mobility and strength. Roland uses a Lance at Weapon Rank One and Silver Lance at Weapon Rank Two. Here are his starting abilities as a Spear Knight:

  • Knight’s Bane (Passive, LV 0): Increases Spear damage.
  • Double Thrust (Active, LV 0): Deals physical damage twice at the cost of 2 TP.
  • Rush (Active, LV 4): Move four squares forward whilst damaging all enemies in three squares in the process.
  • Opportune Attack (Passive, LV 7): Move five squares and damage a facing enemy.

Rudolph Mueller

Rudolph Mueller can be found and recruited in ‘Chapter III, Part II: A Land of Snow and Ice” if players decide to travel to Aesfrost. Detained for being an Aesfrostian Salt Smuggler but pardoned for helping uncover an illegal salt ring.

With a base class of Hunter, Rudolph wields high speed and high physical strength statistics. He holds a Longbow at Weapon Rank One and a Steelbow at Weapon Rank Two.

Here are his base Hunter class abilities:

  • Straight Shot (Active, LV 3): Physical damage to a single enemy
  • Steel Trap (Active, LV 3): Set up to three traps on a single square that deals physical damage and ends an enemies turn.
  • Fight or Flight (Passive, LV 5): Increases movement be one square when enemies are nearby.

Serenoa Wolffort

Serving as the main protagonist of the game, Serenoa Wolffort is arguably the most important Project Triangle Strategy character. He is the glue that holds the narrative of this sprawling adventure together, which means he’s straight in at Chapter I.

With a base class of Swordsman, Serenoa is an all-around character with no noticeable weaknesses. He starts off with a Longsword at Weapon Rank One and a Silver Sword at weapon Rank 2.

Here’s a rundown of his Swordsman class abilities:

  • Delayed Strike (Active, LV 0): Deals physical damage and delays an enemies turn.
  • Pursuit Stance (Passive, LV 3): Raises damage and accuracy of follow-up attacks.
  • Hawk Dive (Active, LV 5): Deal physical damage that is significantly boosted by attacking from higher ground.
  • Counter Stance (Passive, LV 7): Increases counter-attack chances when an enemy attacks.
