It looks like four classic Syphon Filter games have been rated for PS4 and PS5 in Korea, hinting at the games coming to those platforms.
As spotted by Gematsu, Syphon Filter 1, 2, Dark Mirror, and Logan’s Shadow have all received ratings in Korea. Oddly though, none of the other games have been rated. The entire series was developed by Bend Studio, better known now for its work on Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Days Gone. Though at the time the studio went by the name Eidetic.
The first Syphon Filter, a third-person shooter stealth game, came out in 1999 exclusively on PlayStation. It follows special agents Gabriel “Gabe” Logan, and Lian Xing, in their attempt to apprehend a German international terrorist. The second game also came out exclusively on PlayStation. While Dark Mirror and Logan’s Shadow both released on the PSP.
The fact that they have been rated individually points towards the games being released as part of the upcoming rebrand of PlayStation Plus. The rebrand is introducing two new tiers, the most expensive (Premium) offering players a catalogue of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. It’s likely that these Syphon Filter games will be offered as part of that.
The new PlayStation Plus will still let subscribers stick with the current option of online and monthly free games. And the second tier, Extra, will also offer a range of PS4 and PS5 games to download to your console.
