EDIT: Since the time of writing it’s emerged a new Australian rating application for Red Dead Redemption 2 has now been approved. The game has been rated 15+. See original story below.
Original story: In what’s a sad blow for Red Dead Redemption 2 gamers it seems the PC version of the game has been refused classification in Australia.
Australia is known for having much stricter classification rules than Europe or the USA, but it’s not clear as to why the country has denied classification for the Rockstar Games title.

As reported by RespawnFirst, a listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 has appeared on the Australian games classification website, and although the listing doesn’t specify a PC version of the game, it’s hard to imagine it being anything else.
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of RDR2 have both received ratings – and were both released – in Australia last year, meaning the classification request could only have been for the Nintendo Switch or for a PC version of the game.

Considering just how huge RDR2 is, it’s hard to imagine it being successfully ported to the Switch, suggesting it’s likely the PC version of the game that was submitted for approval.
Rumours of a PC version of RDR2 have been circulating for a while now, with some fairly solid bits of ‘evidence’ cropping up from various sources.
Earlier this summer, Twitter user @JakoMako51 spotted references to a PC version of the game in the Rockstar’s Social Club site source code.

“RDR2_PC_Accomplishments:’Accomplishments,” is the phrase found in the coding.
The tweet reads: “The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC is now quite evident. #RDR2 #reddeadredemption2pc #RedDeadRedemption2 #rdr2pc#reddeadredemptionRDR2_PC_Accomplishments: ‘Accomplishments’”
That’s not the only clue. Earlier this year a couple of ex-Rockstar Games employees may have done an oopsie on their LinkedIn accounts, by referencing their work on the supposed PC version of the game.
At the time, PCGamer reported that two ex-Rockstar staff members had mentioned the game on their LinkedIn profiles – one person who worked for Rockstar Leeds until 2016, and one person who worked for Rockstar Toronto until 2016.
Rockstar Games has yet to confirm a PC port of the game, but it’s looking more likely than ever.
