Red Dead Redemption 2 To ‘Replace’ GTA 5 On Xbox Game Pass

In news that’s surprised most of the gaming world, it’s been announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 is headed to Xbox Game Pass. The flawless 2018 title from Rockstar Games is an absolute gem, and considering its status in the gaming community, it’s a massive surprise to see it being added to the Game Pass line up.

For those not familiar with Game Pass, it’s a Microsoft subscription service that allows Xbox users to download a tonne of free games from its back catalogue. It’s been heralded as one of the best gaming services out there as it’s known to regularly include brand-new releases.

Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to Game Pass is a massive win for Xbox gamers, though it’s not all great news.

It’s been confirmed that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 will be leaving the service, presumably to make way for RDR2. Though that’s definitely a bit rubbish for millions of players (myself included), I’m more than happy to welcome Arthur Morgan to Game Pass.

If you haven’t played RDR2 then it’ll be coming to Xbox Game Pass May 7, which is the same day that GTA 5 will be leaving.

RDR2’s official game description reads as follows: “Winner of over 175 Game of the Year Awards and recipient of over 250 perfect scores, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of honor and loyalty at the dawn of the modern age.

“America, 1899. Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are outlaws on the run. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
