Resident Evil 4 remake mod makes Ashley a playable character

Now that the Resident Evil 4 remake is finally out, fans of the game have been flexing their mod-making abilities to add more to the game.

With many mods for the game already out there, a recent one has caught the attention of Ashley fans. Despite playing the game through the eyes of protagonist Leon, he also shares his journey with the President’s daughter, Ashley.

However, since the game’s original release back in 2005, fans have asked to be able to play as Ashley herself. Now, their wish has come true thanks to the ‘Playable Ashley Mod’. This will allow her to quite literally save herself during the events of the RE4 Remake.

Fine, I’ll Save Myself

This mod allows players to take on the role of Ashley as well as including her own sound effects and animations. However, be aware that the mod’s creator, Peachy has said [the animations] “can be buggy.” If you still want to play as Ashley but not risk her unique animations, you can download a file that will retain Leon’s animations.

A few other bugs have been pointed out by the creator. This includes some bugs during calls and during a scene in chapter 2 where you must slide under a door. To combat this, you could install a teleport mod to bypass the area.

Other Resident Evil 4 Remake Mods

If playing as Ashley isn’t your cup of tea, you could also play the game as fan-favourite, Jill Valentine. This mod will replace Ashley with the Resident Evil 3 protagonist, Valentine as she travels with Leon.

However, she won’t be as badass as we remember as this mod is merely a reskin of Ashley. Therefore, she won’t be assisting in battle and will instead just be a companion for players.
