Resident Evil 8 Will Have Ray Tracing and Dynamic 4K on PS5

The PlayStation.com page for Resident Evil 8 (or Resident Evil Village, as it is officially known) has been updated. Not only that but it has revealed some of the next-gen features to expect on the PlayStation 5. So what can we expect to see on the PS5 version of Resident Evil Village?

Details were revealed of how Resident Evil Village will make use of the DualSense controller’s Haptic feedback and Adaptive Triggers.

For example, the Haptic feedback is said to “Simulate the feeling of firing a real gun”.  In a nutshell, what does this mean? Well, depending on what gun you are currently using, the controller will adapt to simulate that unique experience.

The Adaptive triggers will also add to the immersion in other ways. They’ll allow the player to feel the “weight and pull of weapon triggers”.

Aside from Resident Evil Village imagine playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the PlayStation 5.  You will be able to feel the added weight and impact of a shotgun. On the flip-side to that, the speed and response of an SMG.

Playing games such as Gran Turismo or DiRT 5 should be an exciting prospect too. Especially if the DualSense controller can replicate the torque of the engine and bumps in the terrain.

3D Audio in Resident Evil Village

PlayStation also provided further information on the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech on compatible headphones. They said: “Surround yourself with the carefully crafted music and sounds of survival horror in Resident Evil Village.

3D Audio enhances the experience by making you feel the hair-raising sounds coming from every direction.

Faster loading times are also emphasised. This is thanks to the “ultra-high-speed SSD” which promises to bring practically no loading-times while playing Resident Evil Village.

Finally, this is pretty much a given for next-gen console but good to hear none the less. Resident Evil Village will take advantage of 4K resolution and will implement enhanced visuals with Ray Tracing technology on compatible TV’s.

Resident Evil Village is due for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S in 2021.
