Respawn Confirms Apex Legends Cross-Play Is Coming

Apex Legends, the recently-released free-to-play battle royale title from Respawn Entertainment, has quickly become one of the best free games you can play right now.

The surprise release, which saw 10 million players in just 72 hours of its launch, is single-handedly reviving the battle royale genre and it’s not going to stop anytime soon.

Respawn has confirmed that cross-play will be coming [via GamesRadar], which will break down the barriers of dedicated platform play and allow you to play with your friends, no matter what platform they’re on.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Respawn said it “plans to allow players to play with their friends on other platforms,” but admitted Apex Legends will never have cross-progress or cross-purchases due to the game’s limitations and “the way systems were set up early on.”

Still, basic cross-play is better than no cross-play. Right?

Not everyone agrees with the idea of cross-play though, as it’s been found that PC gamers who play with a mouse and keyboard can have a more smoother experience than console players, meaning it’s easier for a PC gamer to go for the win.

Hopefully when Respawn implements cross-play for Apex Legends, it’ll find a way to balance the game to ensure fair play for everyone.

Right now, people can’t get enough of Apex Legends, a game which was touted as a Titanfall-free-to-play title. It’s quickly dropped the Titanfall name in the community, standing up perfectly well on its own (very impressive) merit.
