RollerCoaster Tycoon has sold over 14 million copies on PC since it first launched back in 1999, and it’s a franchise that’s still entertaining fans even now.

The most recent iterations of the game on mobile have gotten millions of downloads worldwide, proving that we’re not yet ready to let go of our dreams of creating the world’s best theme park.
The RollerCoaster success spawned another three main titles in the series, before another five spinoff games hit handheld devices and mobiles.
With such a world-world smash hit, it’s not really any surprise to find that the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
The announcement was made a few months ago, and now we’ve been blessed with some more details on what we can expect and when.
In a recent press release, the teams behind the game, Bigben and Atari announced: “RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures will be released for the 2018 holiday season and will be a completely new game, enjoying all the features of the RollerCoaster Tycoon games with unique aspects for the Nintendo Switch(TM) Console.”
The news gets even more exciting, as it seems a virtual reality version of the game will be heading to the PlayStation 4!
The statement goes on to say: “RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures for Nintendo Switch is the new version of this famous amusement park simulation game. Developed by NVizzio, developer of the RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch mobile version, it includes all the features of the best RollerCoaster Tycoon games, adapted to make the most of all the possibilities of this console.
“The agreement also targets the physical distribution of other games on consoles, including Rollercoaster Tycoon Joyride®, the version of the game on PlayStation 4 with a virtual reality mode that will also be released in 2018.”
An exact release date has yet to be confirmed, but we can’t think of anything better than a full portable Switch game AND a VR version!
