Rumour: SpongeBob SquarePants Is Headed To Fortnite

SpongeBob SquarePants may be headed to Fortnite if new rumours are to be believed. With the upcoming sponge-tastic SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated on the way, it definitely makes sense for a marketing stunt like this, so keep your fingers crossed!

The rumour stems from a Fortnite leak, which shows the new icon for the launch of Chapter 2, Season 3. The icon seems to confirm some sort of underwater theme, with the image showing an island floating in the ocean. The island looks VERY familiar to SpongeBob fans, fuelling speculation that a tie-in event is planned for the two games.

The next season of Fortnite is scheduled to drop on June 11th, which is just a few days before the release of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated.

We’ve seen Fortnite crossovers in the past, with Marvel, John Wick and more all dropping into the game to the delight of players across the world. A SpongeBob tie-in is definitely within the realm of possibility, and it sounds like a match made in heaven if so!

In case you missed it, the official description for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated reads as follows: “Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs.”
