Despite releasing just last month, Sea of Stars developer Sabotage Studio has revealed they are already working on a DLC.
Released in August, the retro RPG game Sea of Stars was an instant hit thanks to its turn-based action inspired by the classics.
Now fans will be happy to learn that the story is not over yet thanks to plans to release a “fully fledged side-adventure DLC.”
More To Come In Sea of Stars
This news comes courtesy of a recent interview with Sabotage Studio’s CEO Thierry Boulanger when he appeared on Canada Radio.
The interview noticed by Kakuchopurei and GamesRadar saw the CEO reveal the company is working on another game. This one will adopt the same developmental process as their previous title, The Messenger.
This looks like the main development team will be working on their next title whilst a smaller team will get to work on the Sea of Stars DLC.
Brand New DLC
This is the first time a DLC has been mentioned since it was first promised when the game first appeared on Kickstarter in 2020.
We know that it will be a “fully fledged side-adventure DLC” and will “expand even more on the world.” Additionally, the DLC (reportedly titled Throes of the Watchmaker) will “provide additional insight on the narrative overarching all of our games”.
Now with the game out in the world, Boulanger has told fans what they can expect from the extra content as well as making a link between the DLC and the future The Messenger.
What that link will be however remains to be seen.
An Instant Success
As for Sea of Stars, it currently sits at a 7.5 user score on Metacritic with a ‘very positive’ rating on Steam.
With reviews praising it for exciting combat, enthralling story and evoking nostalgia for the classics, it’s no surprise the indie game is performing incredibly well.
