Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Free Update Revealed, Includes Passive Multiplayer

It seems as though FromSoftware isn’t yet done with its 2019 hit, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The company has just confirmed that a free game update is coming later this year, and it’s set to introduce some nifty new features and add-ons to welcome you back to the world of Sekiro.

Reflections of Strength will be available when the update lands, and will allow you to showdown with any of the game’s bosses who you’ve previously bested in battle. This new feature will be accessible from any of the Sculptor’s Idols, and will let you dive right back into your favourite bosses to perfect your skills.

Gauntlets of Strength will also be added into the game, and will present single-life challenges. Not too much is known about Gauntlets of Strength, so we may have some surprises down the line with this one.

Three new outfits are also coming in the update: Tengu, Old Ashina Shinobi and an unannounced third one. Two of them can be yours once you’ve beaten the Gauntlets, and the third is earned by completing the game.

Probably the most exciting thing from the update is the introduction of passive multiplayer. FromSoftware fans will be glad to see Remnants make their way to Sekiro: a mix between the ghosts of players and player messages you probably know from Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

You’ll be able to record up to 30 seconds of your gameplay and upload them into the game for other players to watch. You’re encouraged to upload the very best warnings and shows of skill, as having another player enjoy your Remnant will reward some of your lost HP or get you a free Healing Gourd refill. A very welcome addition!

The Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice update will be dropping in October 2020, so while there’s still a while to wait, at least we have something to look forward to!
