Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Gets A Next-Gen Upgrade And It’s Gorgeous

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has received a surprise next-gen upgrade supporting 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second. Rejoice!

Reddit user thiccadam shared an image of Shadow of the Tomb Raider via the Microsoft Store that showed the new upgrade.

The screenshot includes the label “Optimised for Xbox Series X|S”. This is not to be confused with Shadow of The Tomb Raider receiving the FPS Boost a few months back on Xbox. This new update is a proper next-gen upgrade, and it looks gorgeous.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has two graphics modes already. One that prioritises framerate and the other prioritising resolution. However now, thanks to the new next-gen upgrade, you can play the game in 60FPS via Resolution mode.

The recent update that has gone live is called Update 2.01, and the patch notes briefly detail: “Support for 4K at framerate on PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S in high resolution.

Upon hearing about Update 2.01, I made sure that I downloaded the latest update to see what all the fuss is about. So, I can confirm that the game looks extra gorgeous thanks to this surprising update.

IGN has captured some post-update PlayStation 5 gameplay, so you can see how fantastic this game looks on next-gen consoles.
