Sony Announces The Last Of Us 2 Release Date

After literal years of speculation, Sony and Naughty Dog have finally revealed the expected release date for The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us Part II will launch exclusively on PlayStation 4 on 21 February, 2020.

Now we can exhale that breath we’ve been holding since 2016. Thanks, Naughty Dog.

From what we know of the upcoming game so far, the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time will focus on Ellie, five years after the events of the first title. Now 19 years old, Ellie is looking like a serious seasoned killer, in a world that’s rife not only with the after-effects of the Cordyceps Brain Infection, but also with criminals, looters and murderers.

Of course, the ending of The Last of Us left us with mixed emotions. Should Joel have said what he said to Ellie? Did Ellier believe him? Did she find out the truth?! So many questions and it’s been such a long time to wait…!

Interestingly, Naughty Dog had previously remained pretty quiet on the appearance of Joel in the game. We knew he’d be showing up, but the 2016 E3 announcement trailer had people wondering if he was dead and simply being shown in Ellie’s memories.

We’ve thankfully got some more details on the upcoming project, courtesy of the most recent State of Play segment from Sony.

Undoubtedly The Last of Us Part II is going to be one of the best games of 2020, if not one of the best games of all time.

Just as a reminder: Naughty Dog has no qualms about delaying its games to make sure they’re beyond perfect when they reach the hands of the players. Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us were both delayed, so maybe don’t go booking the time off work just yet.
