Soulframe is the new free-to-play MMORPG from Warframe developers, Digital Extremes. The game was announced at TennoCon over the weekend.
Released in 2013, Warframe is one of the most successful free-to-play multiplayer games of all time. Warframe was originally released for PC, before making its way to multiple platforms.
Soulframe is a fantasy MMORPG
Furthermore, Digital Extremes has plans to evolve Warframe into a game with cross-play as well as cross-save support in 2022. Despite this, Digital Extremes is now expanding its library with a new fantasy “free-to-play action hybrid-MMORPG”.
According to Soulframe’s official blurb, it is described as: “a totally new game in early development, Soulframe will deliver its own independent and uniquely immersive experience led by the creative and imaginative minds behind Warframe.”
Childhood fantasy worlds come to life
“With Soulframe’s worldbuilding and thematic elements, we are really looking to go back to our childhood favourites and pull inspiration from the elaborate fantasy worlds that we fell in love with growing up,” said Soulframe creative director, Geoff Crookes.
Crookes continued: “Our team is really interested in this idea of nature and humanity colliding and we’ll be exploring a lot of those themes through our own lens while playing with ideas of restoration and exploration.”
If you want to learn more about Soulframe, head on over to the official website and get yourself added to the game’s mailing list. However, you will have to solve a little puzzle before doing so.
No date has been announced
No release date has been announced for Soulframe, but expect its release to be a while away. Furthermore, I would assume that just like Warframe, Soulframe will first release for PC, before it eventually rolls out onto other platforms.
