SpongeBob Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated Can’t Come Soon Enough

2020 will go on record as being one of the most turbulent times in history, but throughout every global disaster that’s been thrown our way, we’ve had video games to turn to. Gaming has provided millions with a way to escape reality, whether they’re watering their flowers in Animal Crossing, or taking on the world with friends in Call of Duty.

As fun as that can be, I’d say it’s about time for a game that’s less new-and-expansive, and more like getting a hug at the end of a long day. A game like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, perhaps.

The highly-anticipated Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated promises to transport you back to the best era of your childhood, exploring the classic game we all know and love with a 2020 graphical boost. Like I said, it’s looking like the safety and warmth of a big ol’ hug, just in video game form.

GameByte’s Brett Claxton had the pleasure of going hands-on with the game back at Gamescom 2019 (a highlight of the event). Fondly remembering his experience of his time in Bikini Bottom, Brett said: “It’s the game you played on the PS2 but prettier.” Which, really, is everything we need right now.
