Ever since Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch was announced speculation went into overdrive. Speculation over new characters and whether this is a brand new game or remake of the WII U and 3DS version. At E3 we finally got the confirmation we were so desperate for.
Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch will officially be called Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It will feature every fighter that has ever been playable in Smash, yes you read that correctly. That is a colossal 64 characters! We have many fan favourites returning such as Cloud, Sonic, Pac-man, Megaman and Solid Snake who returns from a ten year absence. Even fighters not seen since Super Smash Bros Melee will be making their return such as the lovable Pichu and Young Link from the Ocarina of Time.
But that’s not all. We also have three newcomers to the series. The Inklings from Splatoon, which were shown in the announcement trailer. Princess Daisy from Super Mario. And finally a long requested character finally enters the fray, Ridley from Metroid. Bomberman will be in the game but regrettably he will only be an assist trophy and not a playable character.
In addition to new fighters, Veterans are getting a shake up. To name a few. Mario will be sporting Cappy, his sidekick from Super Mario Odyessy. Link will have his blue tunic from Breath of the Wild. Ganondorf will look and have his moveset from Super Smash Bros Melee.
The head of Smash Bros, Masahiro Sakurai, didn’t say whether we can expect anymore newcomers or DLC. But with a release date of December 7th 2018 there’s still plenty of time to add new fighters.
