In case you missed it, System Shock is getting a reboot from Nightdive Studios, and it’s looking phenomenal in a newly-released preview video.

System Shock, the precursor to the beloved Bioshock series, is often credited as being one of the most important FPS games of the genre, and it’s about time the 1994 classic got itself a reboot.
The game, which takes place onboard a space station in a cyberpunk vision of the year 2072, has more than just a cult following, which is why the hype for the reimagined release is reaching boiling point.

In a newly-released video, Nightdive Studios gives fans a five minute look into CYBERSPACE, showing off some of the combat and level design we’ll see in the reboot.
If you haven’t yet seen the treat we’re in for, check it out in the video below!

The reboot’s description reads as follows: “After two decades, Nightdive Studios is rebooting and re-imagining the original System Shock. We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved while giving today’s gamers the modern look and feel expected from a AAA title.”
In a statement on the reboot, Paul Neurath, Founder of OtherSide Entertainment and co-founder of Looking Glass Studios who helmed the original game, said the following: “The crew at Nightdive heroically brought the original versions of System Shock and System Shock 2 back into circulation.

“They have thrived as a new audience has rediscovered these classics. Now Nightdive is remastering the original System Shock to bring it up to date on modern PC’s – with fully updated visuals, audio and a modern interface – making it dramatically more accessible to modern gamers. It’s quite wonderful to see a franchise that Warren and I helped create get such loving care.”
Although the new System Shock doesn’t yet have an official release date, it’s still expected to come to both Steam and GOG sometime this year. If you want to keep up to date with the game, you can wishlist it now on Steam here.
