Pascal Pedro and Bella Ramsey have been cast in the roles of Joel and Ellie in the upcoming The Last of Us TV series from HBO.
Pascal Pedro is perhaps best known for playing The Mandalorian in the hit Disney Plus show of the same name. Pedro has also starred as Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 and Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones.
17-year old Bella Ramsey also starred in Game of Thrones, playing the role of Lady Lyanna Mormont, who quickly became one of one favourite characters in the series. Bella Ramsey has also recently starred in His Dark Materials as Angelica.
Neil Druckmann, writer/director and co-president of Naughty Dog shared his delight at the two casting choices of Joel and Ellie on his Twitter account.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Bella join the TLoU family!” said Druckmann.
Druckmann then shared the news of Pascal Pedro playing the role of Joel: “Aaaaand there’s the other half. Stoked to have Pedro aboard our show!”
Craig Mazin, the creator of the critically acclaimed HBO Chernobyl series, will be the writer and executive producer of The Last of Us TV series, alongside Neil Druckmann.
Personally these are two casting choices that I never saw coming, but I can see both playing the roles of Joel and Ellie fantastically, especially as both actors probably already know each other from their time on Game of Thrones.
