Thankfully it seems that a release date announcement really is imminent, and for TLOU fans, Naughty Dog couldn’t have picked a better time…

Geoff Keighley, industry veteran and host of the likes of E3 and Gamescom 2019, took to Twitter to share the following image, which shows that a media announcement regarding TLOU2 will be taking place on September 24 – just two days before Outbreak Day.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Gameplay Reveal Event

Outbreak Day, September 26, is the fictional date on which the virus of the first game broke out, and it’s a date that Naughty Dog celebrates each year. There really couldn’t be a more perfect time to announce the sequel’s release window, as it seems to suggest that if the media get to know the release date on the 24th, can we expect a worldwide announcement on the 26th?

We don’t have too long to wait to find out just what’s going to happen. Which is great, because my heart can’t handle the pressure any longer…

From what we know of The Last of Us 2 so far, it takes place five years after the first, which is around 25 years after the Cordyceps virus became widespread. Ellie, now 19 years old, is the main playable character for the story, though here’s hoping we get some Joel in there too.

I cannot wait for The Last Of Us Part 2 Gameplay Reveal event – are you?

Get ready for Outbreak Day 2019, people!
