The Sundew, a dark and complex point-and-click adventure game has you play a cyborg cop. And it looks ace.
Your name is Anna Isobe, a cop who is trying to untangle a global conspiracy. The pixel art-style is beautifully drawn and it’s clearly a love letter to old point-and-click adventure games. The description on Steam is very evocative:
“Shibukawa, capital of Japan, 2054. Water drips from the cracked ceiling onto the edge of your bed as the incessant rain masks the whine of a refrigerator and the neon hum of the city outside. You don’t recognise the heavy breath in your ear nor the warmth of the body lying next to you…
The world’s gone to hell, and it’s taking you down with it.”

Anna is a cyborg – once championed as the future, they’ve become stigmatised. Drones and robots have taken all the jobs. You can watch a trailer for the game here:
The indie game was developed and published by one-woman team, 2054. The developer consists solely of Agnès Vuillaume, who is based in Northern France. The Sundew is the studio’s first game and it was funded through a crowdfunding campaign. It sounds like The Sundew is just the beginning – the studio’s website says that it is the “first game in a long series of thrilling adventure games”.
