Rockstar Games has now removed GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas from pretty much all digital stores.
Earlier this month, the heavily rumoured GTA Remastered Trilogy was finally announced by Rockstar Games. Well, as we know it’s officially called the tongue-twisting “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition”. I mean seriously Rockstar, who’s idea was it to call it that?
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. Rockstar Games also revealed they will be removing previous releases of the games included in the collection from digital stores.
“To prepare for launch, we will begin removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week. For more information, please visit Rockstar Games Support.” Reads the post on Rockstargames.com.

Which of course makes sense from Rockstar’s business perspective, as some gamers would feel more inclined to snap up the previous versions for a fraction of the cost. This also sparked some fans to urge others to buy the original games before Rockstar removes them. Well, if you were hoping to pick those versions up, you’re out of luck, because they’re all gone.
To be fair, I have just checked the Google Play Store and GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas all appear. Though I suspect that with the new remastered collection coming to mobile, they will all be removed soon too.
Rockstar Games has swiftly removed previous versions

Up until earlier this week, you could still buy the GTA Trilogy on Steam for £16.99 and for £28.99 on PS4. But now that chance is gone, and you will have to wait for the new remastered collection to release later this year.
However, if recent reports are true, the new GTA Remastered Trilogy could cost £70 on new-gen consoles, and £60 on last-gen consoles. Which is quite a price hike compared to the previous cost.
Granted, the new remastered collection might warrant the increased price, but as we’ve seen no gameplay or details at the time of writing, we will just have to wait and see. Rockstar Games has promised to reveal more details in the coming months, so hopefully, we will not have much longer to learn more.
