Ubisoft’s planned Prince of Persia Remake has been delayed yet again, according to an announcement via the project’s official Twitter account.
The Ubisoft reboot was planned to release next month but has now been indefinitely postponed. The following statement was provided to fans on Twitter in regards to the decision:
“Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise. It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible. With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.”
When Will The Prince of Persia Remake Release?
The decision is sure to be a disappointment to many fans of a series, who haven’t had a Prince of Persia game since 2010. The original Prince of Persia released in 1989, featuring 2D platforming mechanics and impressive animations for the time. Ubisoft then revived rebooted the series in 2003 with the original “The Sands of Time” game, which introduced us to the game’s unique time-rewind abilities.
Hopefully, the delay will benefit the project, rather than act as a bad omen. This marks the second time the reboot has been delayed. The game was originally launching in January 2021 before being moved to March. Ubisoft has now chosen not to disclose a future release date. This suggests the game might be rewinding back a few stages of its development.
While no news is good news, long term fans of the series will be itching to know when they can finally dive back into Ubisoft’s iconic fantasy world of Persian pearl.
