The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt On Steam Has Made Over $50 Million

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best games of all time and this is absolute indisputable fact. Okay, okay, that’s just the opinion of many (myself included), but what is indisputable fact is how much money this cash cow has raked in.

As revealed by the game’s developers, CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3 has just hit a huge milestone on Steam, where the game has hit a sales landmark of $50 million USD.

Sharing the news on Twitter, CD Projekt Red announced the following: “The accumulated revenue from sales of The Witcher 3 on @Steam platform for the period of time between October 1st 2018 and today has exceeded 50M USD. As a result, we are now getting 80% on any subsequent sales of TW3 on Steam. Thank you all for your support!”

More people than ever are now logging back into The Witcher, thanks in no small part to the recent Netflix adaptation of the books the games are based on.

According to recent data provided by The NPD Group, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has received a whopping 554% player increase on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, when comparing December 2018 and December 2019.

It doesn’t end there though, as it’s not just the video game that have had an impressive spike in sales. The original source materials, the novels from author Andrzej Sapkowski, have also benefited greatly from the Netflix series.

Filming for season two of Netflix’s The Witcher has just begun in the UK. It’s expected to land on the streaming platform sometime in 2021.

As for the future of the game series, a new deal between Sapkowski and CD Projekt Red means we could be seeing some new additions to the series…hopefully. Watch this space!
