There are some games from our childhoods that deserve a remake more than others, and Capcom’s classic survival horror, Dino Crisis, is one of them.
Unfortunately, despite years and years of literal begging, there’s yet to be any formal word about a revival of the beloved dinosaur-filled series.
If, like us, you’re just sick of waiting to enjoy Dino Crisis with a 2019 twist then you’re in luck, because the fans have come to the rescue.
Team Arklay is in the process of remaking the entirety of the first Dino Crisis game, using none other than Unreal Engine 4 [via DSOGaming].
The team has revealed the first alpha gameplay footage from the build, and from what we’re seeing so far it’s looking seriously impressive. Check out the video below!
So far it’s just the environments that have been built, but hopefully we’ll get to see some dinosaurs and our playable characters sooner rather than later.
It’s probably going to be a long time before the project reaches a playable state, but here’s hoping it’ll get there sooner rather than later. (And let’s all pray that Capcom doesn’t swoop in and crush this dream with its legal team).
Whether or not we’ll get an official rerelease or remake of Dino Crisis remains to be seen, but here’s hoping.
Last year when discussing the Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom made it clear it’s keen to explore more of its older IPs.
During an investor meeting, a representative for Capcom was asked what the company was planning for the future, with Capcom responding: “Regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”
Does that mean we can expect Dino Crisis in the future..?
