This Mercedes-Benz Has Been Modded To Play Mario Kart Using Its Steering Wheel And Pedals

The Daimler Research Group has unveiled one of the coolest modded cars we’ve seen in a long time – a Mercedes-Benz CLA that allows you to use the car’s steering wheel and pedals to play Mario Kart.

The Verge reports that not only do you use the Mercedes’ pedals and wheel to control your kart racer, but that the Daimler Research Group has gone one step further. The car’s interior lighting system works in sync with the game’s starting signals, the air conditioning will run matched to your in-game speed, and your seatbelt will tighten each time you crash.

It looks insanely cool, and definitely adds a new element to the phrase “immersive gameplay.”

Sharing a video of the amazing device on Instagram, mobilegeeksblog writes: “That’s right! You’re using a Mercedes Benz as a Mario Kart controller! Brakes Pedals and steering wheel are used to control your go kart in a Mario like environment! The interior lights change color from red to green to kick off your race and the air vents even turn on when you accelerate! Such a cool concept that we hope we’ll see in cars soon! It’ll make waiting for the kids to come out of the movies fun!”

Of course, this car is almost definitely never going to make it to the consumer market due to strict rules around road and car safety. Remember when people kept crashing their vehicles during the height of the Pokemon GO! hype as they desperately tried to Catch ‘Em All? Yeah, well, just imagine the havoc playing Mario Kart in your car could cause…
