THQ Nordic has been around for a decade now. Feeling old? Well, don’t worry; the publisher has various announcements to make to celebrate the event, which should help distract you from existential dread [via Eurogamer].
That’s right, THQ Nordic is celebrating its 10th anniversary with six new game announcements. This includes new entries to “legendary franchises” that it claims “fans have been waiting decades” for. Of course, THQN aren’t strangers when it comes to classic remakes. Not only did the company bring back Destroy All Humans, but it also remastered Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom last year.
So, when are all these announcements set to take place? Well, the company is holding its first-ever digital showcase on the 17th of September at 8 pm GMT. Best of all, they’ve even got Geoff Keighley on presenting duties. Sounds like a pretty big event!
What games will THQ Nordic Announce?
It’s worth mentioning that THQN has acquired a lot of licences over the past 10 years. Therefore, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which games will be announced during the showcase. Although, teaser trailers for Destroy All Humans did previously hint that a sequel was in the works. So, perhaps Krypto will invade the live stream at some point.
As for the other five? Well, the publisher now owns the rights to Kingdoms of Amalur, which includes its cancelled MMO sequel. Recently, we learned that staff who worked on the original Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning finally received payment for their work after nine years. While this doesn’t remotely mean that THQ Nordic has any additional plans for the series past the game’s remaster last year, perhaps some happy coincidences will emerge from the live stream later this month.
Who knows, perhaps THQ Nordic’s announcements will mark the return of some beloved franchises. While remakes and remasters are a dime a dozen these days, there is still plenty of forgotten series’ out there that are in desperate need of a comeback.
