The PlayStation 5 isn’t yet here but that hasn’t stopped the reviews flooding onto retailers’ websites including the likes of Amazon UK.

It’s a sad practice to see people reviewing items that have yet to be released. These reviews are nothing but misleading and fraudulent, which can have a lasting impact on the product, the retailer and the consumer. Sadly, it still happens, and it’s of course happening with the upcoming PS5.

Amazon UK currently has more than 200 reviews for the unreleased console, and as you’ve probably guessed, they’re almost all memes.

There’s the usual spate of reviews from people pretending to be time travellers, along with quite a few five star ratings from people who are just excited for the console. However, there’s definitely more than a few creative reviews on the site.

A user by the name of *ahem* Mr. Bean has given the console a one star rating, writing: “purchased this on the 5th of July 2035, scatched [sic] to hell, they should have stuck to the ps4 black or ps6 lime green. Also the games in 4k look so dated on a 100k AR screen.”

Another user by the name of Navy also shared some of the popular meme images of wireless routers trussed up to resemble the console, writing: “Got it Pre ordered and they sent it same day Amazon Prime. Very Happy The 24K Blu Ray Drive with 1,000,000fps support and RayTracingMax ,can’t wait to play GTA 5 for the 10,000th time. HUGE IMPROVEMENT ON THE FAN NOISE AS WELL, MUCH MUCH LOUDER , Sounds like im filming the new TOP GUN in my F1 TYPHOON Fighter jet.”

One of the most popular reviews for the PS5, which nearly 500 people at the time of writing have deemed “helpful,” is the following image of a cat holding a DualShock 4.

Posted by a Tony Byron-Allcock, the cat pic seems to originate from meme image site KuvatON. Tony accompanied the photo with the following text: “Random cat pic –
Like most ppl, he is waiting for the pre order button to go live.”

The unreleased console current has a four star rating on Amazon UK. If you want to see more ridiculous “reviews” of the PS5 you can check out the listing here. (Please don’t add your own review though, it’s just not nice).
