Ubisoft was allegedly planning to make an Uncharted-style Assassin’s Creed game, according to a reliable leaker [via Reddit].
The information comes courtesy of j0nathan, who has been known for providing accurate information about the Assassin’s Creed series.
In a new video summarised by Reddit, the French insider made various claims about Assassin’s Creed, including information on something called “The Richard Project”, named after Richard I of England.
According to j0nathan, the AC game is (or was) set to be different from the rest of the series, featuring a semi-linear structure that bears a resemblance to the likes of Uncharted. Each “game level” is also described as being a semi-open world, which sounds similar to the likes of Metro Exodus.
The events of the game supposedly take place during Richard the Lionheart’s reign, with the player taking on the role of bodyguard as he returns to Britain.
While “Project Richard” might still be in development, j0nathan points out that it’s unclear whether it has been shelved or abandoned. The game’s development team was apparently moved onto “Project Meteor”, which is to be the third piece of DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While this would suggest that “Project Richard” has been at least paused, whether or not development will resume after Meteor releases in 2022 is currently unknown.
It’s needless to say that none of j0nathan’s latest claims have been officially confirmed. However, the insider does have a solid reputation when it comes to Assassin’s Creed leaks.
Previously, j0nathan leaked various pieces of Valhalla content, including the “Isu’s Knight” cosmetic pack and maps for the “Wrath of the Druids” and “ The Siege of Paris” DLC. Recently, the leaker also uncovered information within Valhalla’s code that seems to reference the game’s third DLC instalment, dubbed “project meteor”.
Hopefully, we’ll get confirmation of “The Richard Project” from Ubisoft soon. Until that happens, it’s best to take j0nathan’s information with a grain of salt.
