Last year the world was treated to a gameplay demo from CD Projekt Red’s upcoming RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. Against all odds, it seems as though “hidden” details within the demo have only just come to light, and of course, it’s thanks to Reddit.
A Reddit user by the name of Mrj760 recently took to the r/cyberpunkgame subreddit to share something they’d discovered within the demo, and it’s the first time most gamers have noticed it.
Sharing a screenshot from the demo, Mrj760 draws attention to the text which is shown over an image of a woman who has definitely seen better days. It looks like she’s been on the wrong end of a kidney removal…if there’s actually a way to be on the right end of a kidney removal.
Exploring the text, the user writes: “Taking my time watching the demo again. Noticed this woman is on 3 antidepressants, a narcotic pain reliever, and an antihistamine with similar side effects to Xanax, and over two times the recommended maximum dose of Acetaminophen.”
With the game’s lore still in question, Reddit has begun theorising on what the information could mean in terms of the gameplay.
One user posited: “She is a college student struggling with depression and has high quality prescribed medicine. She decided to go out on a Friday night on her Cyberpunk’s Tinder date with a guy who was working with Scavengers.”
Redditor Squidbit took a further deep-dive into the screenshot, writing: “Watching that scene again, the biomonitor goes through several screens. That first one seems more like it’s her records, implying those are the medications that she’s prescribed.
“However, when it can’t connect to anything, it reboots itself and the first thing it does is a full body scan, checking her various bodily functions, so one could assume it did that in the background on the initial boot up when V plugs into her too.
“It’s hard to say if that’s what’s in her body right in that moment, or if that’s what’s ‘supposed’ to be in her body regularly. It’s also hard to say what the recommended dose of anything would be when your body is filled with super advanced electronics, today’s standards might not apply to her at all.”
We thankfully don’t have too long to wait to find out some more about the world, the lore and the excessive drug use in Cyberpunk 2077. The game launches April 19.
