If you’re a Valheim regular, chances you’re pretty hyped for the game’s upcoming Hearth & Home update. However, if you’re still in need of convincing, you should probably check out Iron Gate’s new animated trailer.
Unveiled at Gamescom 2021, the cinematic trailer features all the staple elements of the experience, from sailing the murdy deep in a longboat to traversing the dangerous depths of the Black Forrest. However, while dangerous expeditions are a central part of Valheim, every viking needs somewhere to hang their helmet.
What is Hearth & Home?
If you’re new to Valheim, you might be wondering what Hearth & Home actually is. Simply put, it’s the survival game’s first major expansion that promises to improve the game’s food/stamina mechanics and introduce new home items, food and weaponry. Sure, this specific update won’t come with new biomes or changes to combat mechanics. However, Hearth & Home is just the beginning, as future updates promise new biomes to explore.
Of course, if you’re already aware of all of this, you’re probably just waiting to hear when you can get your hands on this new Valheim update. Well, thanks to this new trailer, we now know that Hearth & Home is set to roll out this year on the September 16th, 2021.

It’s worth mentioning that Valheim is still in early access. So, naturally, the game is continuously being improved and adapted. However, the inclusion of major expansion packs for the game shows that Iron Gate is still serious about the survival sim. It’s needless to say that this is great news for fans. But, if the game continues to find success, it could eventually find itself being released outside of the PC ecosphere.
