Weapon Tuning Update Announced For Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare might be wowing people all over the place but that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect game by any means.

The title has been heavily criticised for many things, particularly surrounding certain weapons and their balances. Both the M4 and the 725 shotgun are – to be blunt – stupidly overpowered, with the latter even functioning as a crazy-strong sniper rifle.

Addressing the issues on Twitter [via Gamespot], Modern Warfare’s multiplayer co-director, Joe Cecot, said that “weapon(s) tuning” changes will be addressed at some point, but didn’t offer up any more details than that.

We’re left to speculate over when the update could be coming, and what it’ll entail, but it’s likely that the 725 shotty will be getting nerfed if player feedback is anything to go by.

The double-barrelled 725 shotgun isn’t the safest choice for your main weapon thanks to its two round capacity that’ll have you reloading more often than not. However, in the hands of the right player, its a bonafide killing machine.

As many players have already discovered, the shotgun has a surprisingly long range thanks to its extended choke, and this can even be improved on.

A few compatible add-ons which increase range, including the monolithic suppressor, an extended barrel and a four-times scope, are all that’s needed to get yourself a seriously impressive sniper rifle [via Polygon].

Although fun for a bit, it’s not exactly ideal for a balanced match…

Earlier this week Modern Warfare received its first patch in which a number of the game’s most annoying bugs were removed. Check out the full patch notes right here.

Highlights include fixes to “prevent crashes and improve stability across all platforms,” an issue “where Tac Inserts could cause players to spawn out of bounds,” and – thankfully – third person footsteps have now been “tamed down.” Hooray.

Other errors fixed by the patch include that annoying thing where enemies can hear callouts, weapon tunings, spawn updates and more.

Let’s hope we see more bug patches sooner rather than later!
