Winnie the Pooh entered public domain earlier this year, and clearly someone took that as an opportunity to turn the beloved bear into a slasher villain.
When you think about Winnie the Pooh, you probably think he’s a loveable, huggable, honey-loving bear. Disney obviously helped in popularising Pooh bear with its animated take on A. A. Milne’s classic storybook. But Winnie the Pooh entered public domain earlier this year, meaning anyone is welcome to make their take on the original book.

JUST WHAT?
Which is probably how we ended up with the upcoming Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (thanks, Dread Central). Blood and Honey (a great name by the way) seems to be an indie horror take on the children’s story, seemingly the directorial debut of Rhys Frake-Waterfield. At the moment, no plot details have been shared, but we’re certainly pretty uncomfortable looking at some of the photos released so far.
While Winnie the Pooh is technically in the public domain, it does only apply to the first book from Milne. The other Pooh books he wrote are still yet to enter the public domain. And you probably shouldn’t expect to see this horror version of Pooh wearing a red shirt. These days, Pooh bear is pretty synonymous with that red shirt, but that was actually an addition from the house of mouse.

No release date is set for this modern, unsettling take on Winnie the Pooh. So we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for that first trailer. If it’s anything like this horror game adaptation of Shrek, we’re probably in for a frightening time.
