In an unexpected yet welcomed announcement, WWE legend Owen Hart will feature in the upcoming AEW video game. Awesome news!
Owen Hart was a talented and charismatic professional wrestler, and his flamboyant style was ahead of its time. Sadly, the brother of fellow industry legend Bret Hart passed away on May 23rd, 1999, at the Over the Edge PPV. I can still remember watching the PPV live as clear as day, it’s a memory that will never leave fans.
The circumstances of Owen’s death has caused a troubling and understandable relationship between widow Martha Hart and WWE.
A wonderful tribute
As a result of the sour relationship, even though he absolutely deserves the recognition, his wife Martha hasn’t felt comfortable with Owen being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It’s also been some time since the deceased wrestler has appeared in a WWE video game.
However, the news of the partnership between AEW, Owen Hart’s wife Martha and the non-profit charity organisation The Owen Hart Foundation will be welcomed news for fans. Despite Owen Hart having no direct relationship with AEW.
The deal will not only see Owen Hart feature in the upcoming AEW video game, but it will also see the launch of the Owen Hart Cup on AEW TV. It will also see officially licensed merchandise being produced by AEW.
The collaboration also supports the Owen Hart Foundation which offers global scholarships, housing support, food drives, Christmas projects and much more.
The AEW video game, which is being developed by Yukes, does not currently have a release date. However, it will be released for PC and consoles when it’s ready.
