Xbox Controllers Updated With New Feature To Switch Between Devices

The new Xbox controller double-tap feature has now made it easier to switch between console, PC and mobile devices. Rejoice Xbox gamers!

Previously, this feature was only available for the new Xbox Series X|S controllers. However, this feature is now available for all models of the Xbox controller. New and old.

The Xbox controller can be paired with a number of devices. Obviously, this includes the Xbox console, but also a PC and mobile devices. Before now, to switch from Xbox to PC/mobile, you would have to hold down the connect button, then double-tap to switch back. Now once paired, all you have to do is double-tap from now on.

I tested out the double-tap feature yesterday. My controller is paired to my console and android for when I stream games via Xbox Game Pass. Lo and behold, once the controller paired to my desired devices, it really is as simple as double-tapping to switch.

James Shields, the Senior Product Planner at Xbox shared a short clip on Twitter, detailing how easy it is to switch between devices. In the clip, the older version of the Xbox controller is being used.

The firmware update for the controller and Xbox console should be available to all right now, so make sure that everything is updated and then you will be good to go.
