Halo is one of Microsoft’s best and most lucrative franchises, and it’s one series of games that PlayStation gamers have always wanted to get their hands on.
Unfortunately, it seems that in some alternate reality that dream came to pass, as it’s being reported that Xbox and Sony were in talks to bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to the PlayStation 4.
The news comes from IGN PlayStation journalist, Colin Moriarty, who dropped the info bomb during a recent episode of Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast [via ComicBook].
Moriarty stated that Microsoft was planning for the game to head to Sony’s current-gen console a few years ago, but it’s not known why exactly it never happened.
“I have it on good authority that Master Chief Collection was being talked about on PS4 years ago. Like, I have that on great authority,” Moriarty told co-host Chris Ray Gunn.
Hopefully communication between Xbox and PlayStation is still open for this release, as we’d love to see less exclusivity on console.
During its E3 2019 conference, Xbox confirmed that its next Halo game, Halo: Infinite, will be launching alongside its next-gen console, Project Scarlett.
Scarlett has a release date of Holiday 2020.
There’s a lot of exciting plans for Xbox in the works, with the likes of Gears 5, Halo: Infinite, Microsoft Flight Simulator and the Xbox Game Pass for PC beta, which has now begun.
During E3 2019 Microsoft also announced the brand-new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which combines the console Game Pass, the PC Game Pass and Gold Live.
Xbox Game Pass for Console also just welcomed titles including Metro Exodus, Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition, Borderlands: The Handsome Collectionand Batman: Arkham Knight.
Upcoming Xbox Game Studios titles like Gears 5, Battletoads, Bleeding Edge, The Outer Worlds, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will premiere in Xbox Game Pass.
