The price of the much-rumoured Xbox Series S has finally been revealed by Microsoft.

The Xbox Series S was speculated to be the budget-friendly version of the Xbox Series X, similar to the current-gen Xbox One X and Xbox One S. A series of leaks hinted at its existence, but nothing had yet been set in stone.

Though the Series S hadn’t yet been revealed to the world, it’s now confirmed to not only exist, but also to be pretty affordable – AND hopefully coming soon!

As confirmed by Xbox, the Xbox Series S will retail for $299 (ERP) and will be Microsoft’s “smallest” console yet.

The news was shared to Twitter with an image of the teeny-tiny console, which looks a lot like a speaker, in my opinion…

Though a firm release date has yet to be announced, WindowsCentral cites its own unnamed sources as having “confirmed” a November 10 release date for both the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X. As always, take that with a pinch of salt.

The publication also claims that the Xbox Series X will retail for $499 USD, though again, this is unconfirmed by the company. This is a cheaper price than the Series X costs allegedly leaked by an upcoming Monster Energy x Halo contest.

In the campaign’s small print, Monster said that the total value of all prizes available across the contest add up to $119,998 USD. There’s a total of 200 prizes up for grabs, dividing nicely into $599.99 for the Series X and a copy of the game, Halo Infinite. If we work on the assumption of Halo Infinite coming in at around the usual $50-$60, we’re possibly looking at the console costing around $549 USD.

Hopefully the unveiling of the Xbox Series S and its price means we’re now going to start getting official release dates and pre-order pages for both Microsoft’s consoles and Sony’s. The PlayStation 5 – and its disc-less counterpart – have yet to have their RRPs announced.
