Xbox Series X Loses Another Big Exclusive Launch Window Game

The Xbox Series X and S have lost yet another launch window console exclusive, this time with first-person shooter CrossfireX.

CrossfireX is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that is said to be similar to the likes of esports phenomenon Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

CrossfireX is being developed by two studios, with Control and Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment working on the single player campaign, while South Korean developer Smilegate Entertainment works on the free-to-play multiplayer. The game has now been delaying into 2021.

It’s certainly been quite the complicated launch for Microsoft with the global release of the Xbox Series X|S.

First it was announced that the highly anticipated Halo Infinite would be delayed until 2021, meaning that it would no longer be a launch day title.

Now with Xbox exclusive CrossFire X being delayed into 2021, it’s yet another blow to the Microsoft console.

The reasons given for the delay of CrossfireX – much like most delays this year – is down to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CrossfireX Twitter page revealed in a tweet: “After much deliberation, and in consideration of the challenges faced by the Smilegate development team due to COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of CrossfireX to 2021.

They went on to say: “Moving our release will allow us to deliver the Crossfire experience on console our team set out to create. We’ll have more to share in the future.

As you can see from the statement above no exact release date was given for CrossfireX other than a vague “2021” window.
