Xbox Cloud gaming has now arrived to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate. Rejoice!
Previously the Xbox Cloud streaming service was available for Series X|S gamers for those that sub to Game Pass Ultimate. However, it will now begin rolling out for Xbox One console gamers too. That means you can now play the Series X|S versions of games such as Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite on your old last-gen consoles. We’ve heard of backwards compatibility, but this is… forward compatibility?
In my opinion, Xbox Cloud gaming is a fantastic additional service for those that subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate. In my experience, not only has streaming from console to handheld device been of high quality, but it’s also a straightforward process. I also think it’s amazing in this day and age that we can play the likes of Halo, Gears of War and Forza series on our mobiles.
Give your hard drive some breathing space
However, Cloud gaming can also mean that we can play games in an instant without the need to download them to our consoles. Not only is this quick and easy to jump into our favourite games, but there are other benefits too. Take, for example, Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Like some of the other big hitters from Xbox Game Studios, Microsoft Flight Simulator takes up a lot of hard drive space. This can especially be a problem if you own an Xbox Series S which only has a 512GB internal hard drive.
So, with Xbox Cloud gaming, it means that we can play the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator without the requirement of clogging up our hard drive space or having to delete other games. FYI; Microsoft Flight Simulator arrives to Xbox Cloud gaming sometime during early 2022.
When will Cloud gaming be available for all?
As of right now, Xbox Cloud gaming is rolling out to a subset of Xbox gamers starting this month. Over the next few weeks, Xbox Cloud gaming will be available in 25 regions across the world.
