Switch ports of two classic Zelda titles, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, could be announced this month in a new September Nintendo Direct.
It seems like every other month we get a new Nintendo Direct rumour, and this month is no different. This time, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb and Gamesbeat editor Mike Minotti spoke about a new direct on a podcast, leading to more speculation over the Zelda titles being ported to the Nintendo Switch.
As reported by VGC, the pair said that they believe a Nintendo Direct is coming in September. They said that they’re certain that Wind Waker and Twilight Princess will be announced in that Direct. Additionally, a Metroid Prime remaster could be announced, though they were less sure about that title.
Minotti said “To be clear guys, the one thing we are very, very sure is being announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch.”
Direct Incoming?
Grubb went on to say “100% there’s a Nintendo Direct in September. It’s that simple. There is still some uncertainty about whether this will be a general one, maybe a Mini, there was some talk of it being a Partner Direct”. If there’s going to be a lot of Zelda in the Direct, it most likely won’t be a Partner Direct, which Grubb acknowledged.
However, we have to take this news with a grain of salt. While Grubb is known for leaking accurate information about upcoming titles, there’s no confirmation that any of these titles are in the works for Switch. We’ll have to wait until Nintendo officially comes out and confirms it.
Apparently, this rumoured Direct will take place in the week beginning September 12th. As a fan of Twilight Princess in particular, I’m hoping we finally get to see it on Switch. Either way, there won’t be long to wait before we find out for sure.
