Zelda’s 35th Anniversary Is Nearly Here, What Do You Want To See?

February 21st marks the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series and fans have been wondering: what’s next for the beloved Nintendo franchise?

To be fair to Nintendo, this is not a series that it has sat idly on top of and let fade out of existence.

We’ve seen the release of the critically acclaimed Breath of the Wild in 2017, as well as remakes and remasters including A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and Link’s Awakening to name but a few.

We already know that a Breath of the Wild sequel is coming, but we’d be lucky to see that release this year. So what is next for The Legend of Zelda series?

That very question has been asked on Reddit by user Josh1685 who asked: “Zelda’s 35th anniversary is just a week away from now, what are you guys hoping Nintendo will do to celebrate?

Josh1685 appears to be a new fan of The Legend of Zelda series, with their love starting at Breath of the Wild. Josh1685 explains that they’d love to see HD ports of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on the Nintendo Switch.

Even though both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker have already seen HD remasters on the Wii U, many potential Zelda fans missed out on playing those games, especially with Twilight Princess releasing later in the life of the Wii U.

Personally I’m inclined to agree with Josh1685. Despite already receiving the HD remaster treatment on the Wii U, I’d love to see Twilight Princess and Wind Waker arrive on the Switch.

Fans have also been calling for a remaster of 2011’s Skyward Sword for years. The game was released for the Wii and at the time of writing, has not received any remaster treatment. Its innovative Wiimote controls would easily translate to the Switch Joy-Cons.

Many fans seemed to be in agreement that they’d love to see Legend of Zelda classics arrive on the Switch. One fan in particular gave a good shout for The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures which released for the GameCube in 2004/05.

I think Four Swords would work really well on the Switch with the Joycons/Pro Controller,” said Reddit user RandomRedditor44.
