During a new earnings calls, Activision confirmed that a new Call of Duty game will be releasing this year (which isn’t a surprise), but also suggested that there’s still more than a little life left in Modern Warfare.

The company explained its intentions to “build great content for the long haul” for MW players, before adding that there’s “more surprises” to come for the game.

That’s all they offered up for now, so don’t get too excited just yet.

Speaking of Season 2, a recently-revealed teaser trailer has hinted about what we can expect from the next chapter of Modern Warfare.

We’ve been expecting the return of fan-favourite character, Simon “Ghost” Riley, for a while now, but now it seems almost guaranteed thanks to his name popping up in the trailer.

The trailer also raised a lot of eyebrows by teasing players with another classic throwback. It looks like one of the best maps in the history of the CoD franchise is about to make a comeback: Rust.

We heard suggestions of some classic maps coming to the game as far back as October last year, but the trailer is the first official hint at the return of Rust.
