When you think of pig farming in video games, you’re probably thinking of Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon – quaint, happy-go-lucky farming sims with cute pigs for you love to and care for. If that’s your jam (or should I say “ham”? Sorry) then you might want to give upcoming indie game Adios a miss, as this title is set to be anything but cute and cuddly.

Published and developed by Mischief, Adios is a “cinematic first-person game about sticking to a complicated decision,” and though you play as a simple pig farmer, this doesn’t sound like anything we’ve seen before.
Your pigs are the means by which the mob “disposes” of their victims, and though you’ve previously taken it in stride, Adios kicks off when your character puts their foot down and stands up to the mob.

Over on the game’s official Steam page, the description explains: “You’re a pig farmer in Kansas. It’s October. Cold, crisp mornings are the norm, and you have decided that you’re no longer okay with letting the mob use your pigs to dispose of bodies. When your old friend – a hitman – arrives with his assistant to deliver another body, you finally screw up the courage to tell them that you’re done.

“Your friend doesn’t want you to stop. He knows that there’s no such thing as quitting, so he’ll try to convince you that you’re making a mistake. You spend the day together, doing chores and exploring the nooks and crannies of an authentic environment in the American Midwest alongside the man who will be forced to kill you, if he can’t convince you to stay. How you respond will determine the rest of your life.”
Giving off some serious The Godfather and Hannibal vibes, this is sounding like the perfect game for fans of cinematic and narrative-driven games!

Adios is releasing on both PC and Xbox One this fall, but if you’re keen to keep this gem on your radar you can wishlist it now on Steam!
